Women control ball, but not score in loss to Rams

Box Score Monmouth controlled the ball for major portions of the second half, but couldn't shake a 4-0 halftime deficit in a 6-0 loss to Cornell in the Midwest Conference opener for both schools.

The Fighting Scots outshot the Rams 17-7 and took seven corner kicks but didn't find a way to get past the Rams' keeper who made eight saves on the day. Bethany Stivers scored her first of four goals on the day in the fifth minute as Emily Snider tallied her first of three assists. Snide knocked in back-to-back scores in the first 15 minutes as the Rams took advantage of their opportunities.

Monmouth tries for their first league win this season Tuesday afternoon when they travel to Knox for a 4:30 start.
