The Monmouth College women's soccer team fell 1-0 at Beloit on Saturday in a battle for fifth place. The Fighting Scots (6-5, 2-3) finished the game with 10 players and Beloit scored with just over 10 minutes to play.
Cadence Covert (Pekin, Illinois) made two saves for the Fighting Scots in the first five minutes and added another in the 19th minute. A fourth save by the Monmouth freshman kept the gave scoreless at halftime as the Scots offense didn't have a shot on goal.
Covert made a save early in the second half before a red card on Monmouth put the Scots down to 10 players for the final 37 minutes. Covert made two more saves but Beloit broke the deadlock with a goal in the 79th minute. The Scots finally got a shot on goal with five minutes to play but
Mariah Hobson (Princeton, Illinois) had two late efforts saved as Beloit held on for the 1-0 win.
