Willard pumps in season-high 29 in 84-66 win over Lake Forest

Box Score All that's left for the Monmouth women's basketball team after an 84-66 win over Lake Forest is to find out if they're traveling to Iowa or Wisconsin next for the Midwest Conference Championships.
 
The Scots wrapped up the No. 3 seed at the tournament last week, but Cornell and St. Norbert remained deadlocked going into today's action to host the tournament.
 
Monmouth geared up for next weekend with a close contest against the Foresters. The Scots were finally able to open up a 10-point lead on Kaley Corban's jumper with 7:45 left in the game. The Foresters briefly cut the margin to single digits a minute later, but the Scots got a pair of free throws from Jacquice Cooper and two more from Kathleen Forrest to put Monmouth ahead 72-59, setting the stage for the final five minutes.
           
After Lake Forest trimmed the margin to 74-64 on a 3-pointer with 3:04 left, the Scots Marla Willard canned a pair of free throws on her way to a season-high 29-point, 13-rebound night. The throws began an 8-1 run as the Scots held off the Foresters for their 18th win of the season.
