Box Score The Fighting Scots pulled into a tie for second in the Midwest Conference with Carroll, taking advantage of the PIoneers turnovers to win on the road 65-57.
Monmouth converted 26 points off of turnovers to jump out to a 36-30 halftime lead. The Scots then heated up in the second half, hitting 10 of their 17 shots from the floor to thart a Carroll comeback.
Will Jones opened the second half scoring for Monmouth on his way to a team-high 19 points. His bucket on the Scots' second possession moved them to a 38-30 lead before the Pioneers began to circle the wagons.
A turnover and two missed jumpers by the Scots allowed Carroll to knot the score at 46-46 midway through the second half. The Pioneers took the lead breifly at the 10:47 mark, but Monmoutn countered and regained a six-point edge at 58-52 on 3-pointer from Jones and a bucket by
Ben Friday with 4:06 left.
Nick Marema then added a three and
Andrew Mathison chipped in a bucket en route to a 13 point night wiht 1:17 left.
The win keeps both Monmouth and Carroll one game behind league-leading St. Norbert.
