Box Score Monmouth had four players in double figures and led from start-to-finish in a 67-49 win over Webster on Opening Night.
 
Will Jones started the onslaught with a 3-point on the Scots'  first possession and Ben Friday followed with a bucket inside as Monmouth took an early 5-0 lead. Chad Thompson then scored five of Monmouth's next 12 points as the Scots raced ahead by double digits.
 
The Gorlocks closed the gap to five with 5:12 left in the first half before the Scots responded on another Thompson 3-poitner and a bucket in the lane from Andrew Mathison. Monmouth then nursed a halftime lead of 36-27 into a 10-point bulge on a bucket by Cole Jackson with 12:53 left in the second half.
 
Monmouth closed out the game on a 16-6 run over the final eight minutes for their first season-opening win since 2010.
 
Mathison came off the bench to pace the Scots with 13 points, Jackson and Will Jones added 11 each while Ben Friday dumped in 10 and pulled nine rebounds.
