PK in double OT sinks Scots into three-way tie

Box Score A Penalty Kick in the second overtime has Monmouth in a three-way tie for third in the Midwest Conference.

Monmouth and Grinnell played for nearly 110 minutes before either team found the net. With the score tied 0-0 through regulation, the teams headed for overtime where the defenses took over. Neither team could get off a shot through the first extra session.

The lone shot in the second overtime came on a Penalty Kick and ended the game in the 108th minute when the Pioneers' Elliot Meyer scored the game-winner. The score spoiled a solid day in goal by Monmouth's Luke Cogan who stopped five of the six shots he faced.

The loss, coupled with Illinois College's 4-3 win over Carroll has the Scots, Blueboys and Carroll tied for third. The Pioneers and IC have two conference games remaining while Monmouth has one.
