Women's 80-69 win over Foresters creates 2nd place logjam in MWC

Box Score Monmouth withstood a late run by the Lake Forest Foresters to come out with an 80-69 win at Glennie Gymnasium.

Marla Willard hit a jump shot at the first half buzzer to give Monmouth a 35-30 lead heading into the break. The lead extended to 10 before the Foresters made a run courtesy of a three point shooting display from Gina Ambrose, who finished with 22 points on 6 of 10 from beyond the arc.

Three transition buckets in a one minute span gave Monmouth a 75-67 lead with 1:06 to go. They would make five of six shots from the charity stripe to round out the scoring.

The Scots were paced by Kaley Corban who exploded for 27 points on 10-14 shooting from the field. Willard recorded another double-double with 18 points and 10 boards followed closely by Jacquice Cooper who tallied 16 points.

With the win, Monmouth improved to 11-3 on the season and 7-2 in MWC play, tied with Illinois College and Cornell for second place in the standings. St. Norbert's 66-42 win over Illinois College dropped the Lady Blues to 7-2 while Cornell's 55-45 win over Ripon moved the Rams to 7-2.
