Box Score Monmouth battled hard in the first half but was unable to cool down a hot-shooting Lake Forest team in a 91-74 loss at Glennie Gymnasium.
A Ben Friday jumper tied the game 18-18 at the halfway point of the first half. The Scots would never take the lead however, as Lake Forest outscored the Scots 30-16 in the last ten minutes thanks to a 51 percent shooting performance from the field.
The Foresters got five players into double digits in the scoring column while the Scots only managed two, which included Cole Jackson with 16 points and 12 from Andrew Mathison who also tallied 12 boards.
Wes DeClerq and Matt Juhola both poured in 9 points off the bench in the loss. Monmouth also won the battle on the offensive glass and points in the paint but couldn't quiet down senior guard James Stack of Lake Forest, who scored 19 points on just 6 field goal attempts.
The game put both teams at 5-9 on the season and 4-5 in Midwest Conference play.
