Box Score An early goal proved to be the difference in Monmouth's 2-1 loss to St. Norbert in the Scots' Midwest Conference season opener.

St. Norbert's Kirill Vasilenko slipped a free kick into the ne in the game's ninth minute for what looked like might be the day's only tally. The team battled into the 69th minute before Monmouth's Chizobam Nkemeh drove one-on-one and beat the Green Knight's keeper to knot the match at 1-1.

Monmouth fell when the Knights converted a corner kick into a goal by Nathan Angell with 14 minutes left in the game.

The Scots host Ripon Sunday for a 1 p.m. start at Peacock Park.
