Men's Soccer downed by pair of late scores

Box Score Monmouth's season opener was just about eight seconds too long as North Central tied the match in the final second of the first half and hit the game winner with seven seconds left in the last half.

The Fighting Scots took advantage of their opportunities in the first half to take the lead in the 32nd minute. Brad Dulee found Max Daniels open in the middle on a breakaway, hitting Daniels in stride. Daniels then blasted the shot past the Cardinals' goalkeeper for the first score of the season.

Monmouth kept North Central at bay until a corner kick in the waning seconds of the half. NCC squeezed the shot past Matt Schmidt to tie the match with a second left in the half.

The Scots' defense kept the Cardinals out of the net over the next 44 minutes, despite allowing six second half corner kicks. North Central finally broke through when a corner kick in the final seconds resulted in a flurry in front of the Monmouth net before Joey Faleni's blast found the back of the net.
