Women doomed by turnovers plus Carroll threes in 61-50 loss

Box Score Monmouth held on to second place in the Midwest Conference despite falling to Carroll 61-50.

The Fighting Scots turned the ball over on five straight possession in the first half while Carroll was hitting 3-pointers to take a 24-10 lead midway through the half. The Scots turned the tide briefly on Kim Coleman’s steal and Paige Nord’s layup before the Pioneers counterattacked. A three at the end of the first half put Carroll up 37=23.

Carroll opened the second half with their ninth 3-pointer of the game and nursed a double-digit lead for the entire half.

The loss leaves the Scots a game ahead of St. Norbert on the loss side and two in front of Carroll with one game to play. Monmouth hosts Lake Forest – which is just one game out of the conference playoff picture – next Saturday in the regular season finale.
