Women put out Fire, win 97-80 at Knox

Box Score Monmouth trailed for less than two minutes in a 97-80 win over Knox.
 
The Prairie Fire scored the first four points, but the Scots then caught fire literally, hitting three straight shots to pull ahead 7-4. Two free throws from Jasmine Johnson gave Monmouth their biggest lead of the first half, 37-22 with 3:53 left in the period. Monmouth cooled after that, allowing Knox to pull within two at 41-39 entering halftime.
 
The Scots kept Knox at bay in the second half as Paige Nord’s bucket three minutes into the half started a 16-0 Monmouth run to take a 64-45 lead with 14 minutes left. Monmouth maintained a 20-point edge for the remainder of the game to improve to 18-3 on the year.
 
Nord finished with a game-high 20 points while Zipporah Williams and Jasmine Johnson posted double-doubles. Williams poured in 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Johnson added 11 points and 13 boards for her first double-double.
