Box Score Monmouth kept Grinnell in check in the first half, but a 16-6 Pioneer run to open the second half handed the Scots a 122-92 setback.

Cole Jackson scored two of his 18 points with a layup to open the second half before the Pioneers nailed a pair of 3-pointers and forced three Monmouth turnovers in the first three minutes to open just their second double-digit lead of the game.

Trailing 82-65 six minutes into the final 20 minutes, Ben Friday, Jon Calhoun and Andrew Mathison scored on layups to cut it to 82-71. Grinnell responded, combining a pair of free throws, four 3-pointers and two Scots' turnovers to take a 96-75 lead.

The Scots were never able to get closer over the final eight minutes despite outrebounding Grinnell 53-42. Friday led the Scots with 20 points while Nick Marema added 19.
