Nord's 24 points not quite enough to carry women in 72-67 loss to IC

Box Score Paige Nord poured in 24 points, but Monmouth couldn't overcome a double-digit deficit in the second half, falling 72-67 to Illinois College.

Trailing by 17 points with 13:30 left in the game, the Scots staged a furious rally to make it close down the stretch . A traditional 3-point play and a 2-pointer by Nord were the bookends as the Scots' cut the deficit to single digits and climbed to within three at 52-49 with just over 10 minutes to play.

The Scots finally retook the lead with four minutes to go when Ally Friday's bucket gave Monmouth a 64-63 lead. It was the first lead for the Scots since the 16:30 mark of the first half. IC then regained the lead for good on a pair of free throws with 29 seconds left in the game.

Jacquice Cooper and Marla Willard joined Nord in double figures with 14 and 12 points each.
