Women's Basketball leads all the way in 81-78 win over Foresters

Box Score Monmouth led from start-to-finish, but had to survive a furious Lake Forest rally to post an 81-78 win over the Foresters and hang onto second place in the Midwest Conference.
Paige Nord’s 3-pointer to open the game immediately put Lake Forest behind by three and they were never closer until the final two minutes of the game. The Fighting Scots saw a 10-point lead with 5:18 left in the game dwindle to two, at 75-73, with 1:43 remaining when Lake Forest went on an 8-0 run. Nord gave the Scots a four point cushion, 77-73, with a layup after the Foresters’ big bucket down the stretch had gotten them within one possession.
Lake Forest went inside on their next trip down court, to cut the deficit to 77-75. The Scots then hit two of five free throws in the next 30 seconds to build a 79-75 lead before the Foresters nailed a 3-pointer with nine seconds left to pull within 79-78 with nine seconds left. Nord then finished off the Scots’ win with two free throws as Monmouth held on to improve to 7-2 in the conference.
Nord and Zipporah Williams were the only Scots in double figures with 16 and 15, respectively. Marla Willard pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds.
