The Monmouth College men’s soccer team opened Midwest Conference play with an impressive 2-1 win at St. Norbert Saturday afternoon.
The win was the Fighting Scots’ first victory over the Green Knights since 2001. The teams tied 1-1 last season.
Logan Simpson scored both of Monmouth’s goals in less than two minutes. St. Norbert had taken a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute before Simpson knotted the game in the 57th minute on a sweet feed from Nathan Sobotka. Simpson struck again in the 58th minute, taking advantage of a St. Norbert miscue.
