Football falls in opener at Coe

Box Score Monmouth’s offense never got going in a 33-3 loss at Coe in Saturday’s season opener.
The Kohawks scored on their second possession and added a field goal and another TD before the half for a 16-3 lead. The Scots’ Matt Batton put Monmouth on the board early in the second quarter with a 29 yard field goal. Monmouth’s score was set up by Michael Lafferty’s interception of a Coe pass at the Kohawks’ 40 yard line.
Brik Wedekind completed 17 of 31 passes for 209 yards as he connected with seven different receivers. Newcomer Jordan Kalk led three Scots with double-digit tackles with 18 stops, Ryan Flannigan and Philip Pryzbyla added 13 each.
