Box Score Monmouth couldn’t overcome a cold shooting night, falling to Nebraska Wesleyan 64-51.
It was a tale of two halves after the Scots hit just 4-of-26 shots in the first half, but came out firing in the second session. Monmouth hit nearly half their shots in the second half and steadily chipped way after the Prairie Wolves took a 37-16 lead in the first four minutes of the second half.
A pair of Wes Dukeman free throws ignited a 14-3 Monmouth run. Nick Marema drained a pair of 3-pointers after Dukeman’s throws and Darren Stringfellow’s layup trimmed the deficit to 12, 38-26. A bucket by Andrew Mathison followed by Mike DeDecker’s bucket cut it to 40-30 with 12:16 left, but the Scots would get no closer as Nebraska Wesleyan maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
