Box Score Monmouth came up just short in the battle of the unbeatens, falling 64-60 to Cornell at Glennie Gym.
The teams traded the lead a dozen times after halftime with Cornell taking an eight point lead at 38-30 on a steal and layup just four minutes into the second period. Monmouth countered when Paige Nord and Colleen Forrest hit back-to-back threes to cut it to two before Nord canned a pair of free throws to pull the Scots even.
Neither team could gain much of an edge over the final 15 minutes. Leading 61-60 with less than a minute left, the Rams drained a 3-pointer for the final margin.
The Fighting Scots had led for the first 17 minutes of the game before the Rams drained a 3-pointer with 2:35 left in the first half to take their first lead of the game. The Rams converted 15 offensive rebounds into 22 points in handing No. 23 Monmouth their first loss of the season.
Zipporah Williams added her sixth double-double of the season for the Scots, scoring 11 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Nord led the Scots with a game-high 18 points.
