Box Score Monmouth couldn’t recover from a late second half scoring drought in a 70-55 loss at Ripon.
The Scots and Red Hawks traded the lead throughout the first half, but Ripon pulled away after intermission thanks to a 15-4 run late in the game. Five straight points from Andrew Mathison in the first five minutes of the second half kept the Scots within single digits of the Red Hawks before a pair of Monmouth turnovers led to a 14 point Ripon lead at 42-28.
Chad Thompson then stopped the bleeding with a 3-pointer and Wes Dukeman’s bucket inside pulled Monmouth back to within nine before the Red Hawks began to pull away. Ripon followed Dukeman’s score with their big run to take a 57-37 lead with 6:25 left and maintained the edge down the stretch for the win.
Dukeman’s dozen led three Scots in double figures. Jon Calhoun chipped in 11 and Thompson added 10.
