Men clipped at the end by Eureka

Box Score Monmouth saw their six-game win streak over Eureka snapped in an 82-80 loss on the Red Devils’ court.
Neither team could sustain much of a lead in the back-and-forth contest. The Scots led for the first 10 minutes of the second half before the Red Devils regained the lead with just over nine minutes left. Nick Marema’s bucket with 1:44 left in the first half knotted the game at 37-37 and Wes Dukeman’s 3-pointer followed to push Monmouth to a 43-37 lead at the break.
Marema – who finished with a team-high 23 points – gave the Scots a 10 point lead with a layup with 17 minutes left in the game before the Red Devils started their comeback. A pair of Eureka free throws capped a run of six unanswered points to cut the lead to four at 49-45. Once Eureka knotted the score with 12 minutes left, the teams traded the lead six times down the stretch.
Trailing 79-77 with 28 seconds left, freshman Jon Calhoun converted an old-fashioned 3-point play to give the Scots a one-point lead. Eureka then claimed the  win with a trey in the final eight seconds.
Calhoun and Dukeman finished with 13 point each.
