Mike Connell, the Fighting Scots’ Faculty Athletic Representative, has been a regular at Monmouth College sporting events since joining the faculty in 1992.
A professor in the Department of Political Economy and Commerce, the avid supporter of the Fighting Scots was the Faculty/Staff Support Recognition honoree at the 2019 Fighting Scots’ Awards. He can be seen waving the college flag at many of the Scots’ sporting events and dons his red Monmouth College sports jacket for special occasions.
His duties as the Faculty Rep include acting as the liaison between the Monmouth faculty and the conference office.
Connell, an avid collector of all things Pepsi, is popular on the speakers’ circuits, using real-life analogies to teach economics. Among his more popular lesson plans is the correlation of the classic Wizard of Oz and how it is a subliminal message about the commerce system.
Also an avid golfer, Connell has served as president of the Monmouth Country Club. Monmouth’s faculty rep is also well aware of the need to give back to the community. He serves the community as a member of the hospital board and the Healthcare Foundation of Warren and Henderson County.
