Peter Ollis

Hired prior to the fall 2015 season and now in his sixth season, Peter Ollis, an All-American in his playing days, has quickly establishing Fighting Scots water polo as dangerous opponent.

Ollis experienced immediate success when the men’s team produced their first All-American in program history in 2015. The women's team also made history under Ollis' guidance, as they too, turned out their first All-American the following spring and added another in 2019 and a third the following year.

The women’s successes were immediate as they set the school record for wins in Ollis’ first season and reset the record the following year. In 2018, Ollis' women earned their first national ranking in program history and in 2019 recorded their highest league finish – third – at the season-ending conference tournament which earned Ollis the league’s Coach of the Year award.

With Ollis at the helm, the women have earned three All-American honors, 11 all-league honors and more than 14 academic national awards.

Monmouth’s men have been growing, too, claiming one All-American award and three all-league honors under Ollis.

A four-time all-conference performer at Virginia Tech, Ollis approaches practices in much the same manner as a classroom setting, routinely “pop quizzing” his team to ensure they understand the purpose and are progressing with each drill. That philosophy is mirrored in the classroom, where his team is required to put in the same dedicated effort in the pursuit of their degree.

Ollis, who also serves Monmouth as the assistant coach for swimming and diving, earned his undergraduate degree in sociology and psychology from Virginia Tech and his master’s in cybersecurity from Utica.
