Box Score The Monmouth College women's soccer team scored in both halves on Wednesday but ultimately drew 2-2 at Benedictine. The Scots are now 1-1-1 on the season with two games on the road scheduled for this weekend.
The Scots got on the board early as freshman
Danielle Beach (Geneseo, Illinois) scored an unassisted goal in the eighth minute. The goal was the first of her collegiate career to add to her multiple assists from the Maranatha game last Friday.
Benedictine tied the game before halftime and outshot the Scots 16-3 in the first half. Monmouth goalkeeper
Anna Caster (Greenfield, Indiana) made two saves in the first half as only three of the Eagles shots were on goal.
Senior
Jae Mitchell (Rockford, Illinois) put the Scots on top in the 54th minute with her third goal of the season, assisted by Beach. The Eagles pulled even with 10:55 to play and neither team was able to score the rest of the way as the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Caster finished with 13 saves on the night while playing all 90 minutes.
"I'm very proud of the effort on both ends tonight," said head coach
Lucas Henderson. "To bounce back after Sunday showed a lot of heart and determination to grow and we did just that."
