Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Nathan Baliva

Scots Fall to Central on Wednesday

The Monmouth College women's soccer team returned home after a two-game road trip and lost 5-0 to Central College on Wednesday. The Scots are now 1-3 on the season and they will play two games this weekend in Wisconsin.

Central got on the board in the first 10 minutes with a shot from the left wing. They went up 20 with 12 minutes left in the half and an own goal on a corner kick scramble made it 3-0 before half time.

In the second half, the Scots put more pressure on the Dutch with eight of their overall nine shots coming after the break. Neither team scored in the second half for the first 30 minutes but the Dutch scored twice in a four-minute span to account for the final score.

Central took 45 shots to Monmouth's nine. Lea Selquist (Peru, Illinois) had nine saves in the first half while Anna Caster (Greenfield, Indiana) made 11 saves in the second half. The Scots had four shots on goal, two by Lynn Rech (Vacaville, California) and one each from Natalya Main (Peoria, Illinois) and Lizzy Gould (Cambridge, Wisconsin).

Monmouth heads to Wisconsin this weekend for games against Maranatha Baptist on Saturday and Mount Mary on Sunday. Their next home game is Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. against Simpson.
