The Monmouth College cross country teams ran alongside squads from all levels as they competed in the Bradley Intercollegiate at Detweiller Park in Peoria on Friday. The women's team finished fifth, the top spot for a Division III team, while the men finished seventh.
The women's field was led by the University of Wisconsin, Bradley and Western Illinois while the Scots finished fifth, ahead of Cornell and Dubuque among others. Senior
Arika Hofmann (Monmouth, Illinois) led the way with an 18
th place finish in the 5K event, crossing the line at 18:42.4.
Ezzie Baltierra-Chavez (Denver, Colorado) finished 29
th at 19:23.8 while Mike Moore (Washington, Illinois) was 32
nd at 19:39.3.
Kara Fisher (Monmouth, Illinois) was 36
th at 19:59.5 while
Gabriela Peterson (Southwick, Massachusetts) also cracked the top 50 at 21:43.7
On the men's side the Scots finished seventh as host Bradley won the event.
Riley Dulin (Monmouth, Illinois) had the top time over the 8K course as he finished in 20
th place at 26:16.4. No other Scots were in the top 50 as
Will Plumley (Geneseo, Illinois) took the second spot in 53
rd at 28:43.2.

The Scots have next weekend off before competing Oct. 2 at the Dan Huston Invitational hosted by Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. The Scots will return to Peoria for the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course on Oct. 15.
