MEN'S GOLF OPENS SEASON IN WARMER CLIMATE

While the Midwest was experiencing sub-freezing temperatures, and another round of snow, the Monmouth College men's golf team was hitting the links with St. John's University for a dual meet in Arizona.

The Johnnies clipped the Scots 305-356 on the par 70, 7,002 yard Karsten course in Mesa, Ariz. Just six strokes separated Monmouth's four scoring rounds.

Sam Gillen led the way with an 85, four strokes ahead of Nate Monroe. Ben Dobberstein and Braden Williams rounded out the scoring rounds. Mason Ely narrowly missed a scoring round with a 92.

Golfing as individuals, Zach Ferris and Jarrod Hall carded a 108 and 117, respectively.

The Scots are scheduled to play in the Blackburn Invitational in Godfrey, Ill., Mar 23-24.
