It didn't take long in her final women's water polo season for
Becca Dabrowski to set the Fighting Scots' career scoring record, notching the historic goal in the second game of a four-game weekend.
    Â
Dabrowski nearly set the mark in Saturday's opener, a 15-9 loss to Redlands, ranked sixth in the Varsity Division III national poll. The senior netted all four of Scots' goals in the first half as Monmouth trailed 9-4 at the intermission. The Bulldogs slowly pulled away in the second half, holding Dabrowski to just one more goal, knotting her with Cassidy O'Connell for the Scots' all-time record at 156.
    Â
Monmouth fell behind early in the following match, a 24-10 loss to Virginia Military Institute, but Dabrowski netted her record-breaking goal at the 3:17 mark of the first period to overtake the record which had stood since 2016. VMI nursed an 11-6 lead into halftime and then blanked the Scots in the third quarter to pull away for the win, offsetting a six-goal effort from Dabrowski.
    Â
The Scots opened Sunday's play with a 13-10 win over Carthage as Dabrowski netted a game-high seven goals and freshman
Skylar Rapp added four. Monmouth took the lead in the first quarter after the Lady Reds had knotted the game at 1-1.
Emily Mathews' goal began a Monmouth three-goal run to end the period with a 4-1 lead. The Scots were never threatened after Dabrowski's third-quarter goal gave Monmouth a three-goal cushion at 7-4.
    Â
Marissa Logan netted two, first period goals in the weekend's getaway game, a 16-10 loss to No. 8 Macalester. Trailing 8-5 at the half, Monmouth closed the margin to 8-6 on the first of two Dabrowski goals in the third quarter, but that would be as close as Monmouth would get in the weekend's final game.
    Â
The Scots travel to Springfield, Ohio, this coming weekend for another four-game round robin. They open with Carthage and Macalester on Saturday before facing Austin College and Wittenberg Sunday.
