Box Score 2 Monmouth kept their hopes for a Midwest Conference Tournament berth alive with a twinbill sweep of Beloit Saturday afternoon in Janesville, Wis.

Liz Hippen tied her own school record set her freshman year, striking out 14 batters in Monmouth's 8-2 Game 1 win over teh Bucs. Nursing a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth, Monmouth sent 11 batters to the plate, scoring five runs to pull away.
Darcy Kepner's two-run double was one of six hits in the inning and a rash of three straight two-baggers. Kepner finished the game with a 3-for-3 effort and four RBIs.
The Scots took advantage of eight Beloit errors in the late game as
Zelinda Taylor picked up the 12-0 shutout win.Taylor, who faced just two batters over the minimum through four innings, pitched out of a two-on, no-out jam in the fifth to end the game via the mercy rule. After scoring a pair of runs in the first inning, Monmouth erupted for a seven-run second on just four hits. They added three more on just one hit in the third to set up the five-inning win.
Monmouth travels to St. Norbert Sunday for a noon start, needing a sweep to keep their playoff hopes alive as the MWC season winds down.
