Box Score 2 Staff ace
Liz Hippen threw a dozen innings as Monmouth wanted no less than a split at Ripon Wednesday afternoon, but instead came up short in a 1-0, 3-1 sweep by the Red Hawks.
The timely hit did not come in the opener as Ripon eked out the game's only run in the fourth inning. The Red Hawks touched Hippen for three hits in the innings -- all singles. The Scots threatened in every inning, but stranded eight, including a runner at third in the fifth.
Monmouth got on top in Game 2 when
Kaelan Bradley legged out an infield hit and scored on pinch hitter
Megan Corniels' double in the fourth. Ripon answered with a solo run in the fourth and two in the fifth.
The Scots return to Wisconsin this weekend for games with Beloit and Ripon.
