Box Score 2 Monmouth banged out 20 hits in a doubleheader split with Grinnell to stay at .500 in the Midwest Conference.

The Scots ran to a 5-1 win in the opener, but dropped Game 2 6-3 when the Pioneers scored three late runs.

Liz Hippen struck out 10, walked three and surrendered just three hits in the complete game win. The senior hurler helped herself at the plate with a pair of hits which turned into runs.
Kaylee Kurtz' double in the second drove in two runs to give the Scot the lead after Grinnell scratched out a run in the first.
Madyson Fox supplied two insurance runs for the Scots with a double in the fifth as Hippen cruised to the win.

Grinnell pulled out the nightcap with a three-run sixth via a walk, two hits and one error gave the Pioneers a 6-2 cushion. Monmouth got one run back when
Kaelan Bradley stroked a two-out homer in the sixth. Grinnell finished off the game retiring the Scots in order in the seventh.

Monmouth hosts Lawrence and Lake Forest Saturday and Sunday in 1 p.m. doubleheaders.
