Box Score 2 Monmouth banged out a dozen hits and senior pitcher
Liz Hippen tossed a five-inning no-hitter as the Fighting Scots opened their season with a 13-0 blanking of the University of Pittsburgh at Greenburg and a 10-3 win over Ursinus College in Clermont, Fla.

Hippen faced just one over the minimum in the blanking of Pitt-Greenburg in the season opener. Nursing a 1-0 lead going into the top of the fourth, the Scots scored six runs with two outs to break the game open.
Laura Dulee supplied the big blow, a three-run homer. The Scots tacked on six more insurance runs in the fifth to support Hippen's 12-strikeout no-hitter.

The Scots spotted Ursinus a 2-0 lead in the top of the first in the late game, but came back with six in their half of the inning, the third straight inning on Sunday in which the Scots plated six runs. Monmouth took advantage of a pair of Ursinus errors in the first as freshman
Cassidy Abbott allowed just two hits while walking no one to earn the win in her collegiate debut. Monmouth added two more homeruns in the game – a two-run shot by freshman
Alexis Opel in the second and a solo blast by another freshman,
Alison Trettin in the fifth.
