Freshman
Quentin Bartram and junior
Jesus Aguirre led Monmouth with eight goals each in the Scots' final weekend at the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference West Region tournament.
    Â
Bartram fired in five goals and Aguirre three in Saturday's opener against second-seeded Salem International. The Tigers jumped out to a 7-1 lead and pulled away to drop the Scots 25-10. Monmouth trimmed the hole to 7-3 on back-to-back scores when Bartram scored with two seconds left in the first quarter and
Alejandro Altamirano found the net less than a minute into the second period.
    Â
Monmouth took a quick 1-0 lead in the day's second matchup. Aguirre broke the ice in the first minute against Washington and Jefferson, but the fifth-seeded Presidents vetoed the Scots' lead, pulling out to a 6-3 lead after one quarter en route to downing Monmouth 25-9. Aguirre finished the match with five scores and Bartram added three.
    Â
Altamirano and
Tommy Schneider scored two goals each in the finale, a Sunday 16-4 loss to Connecticut College. Trailing 4-0 in the opening frame, Altamirano found the back of the net with 1:22 left in the period to put Monmouth on the boards. The Camels scored the first four goals of the second quarter to take an 8-2 lead as the Scots were never able to close the gap.
    Â
Monmouth – which will return three of their top four scorers next season – finished seventh in the season-ending tournament.
