One record fell as the Monmouth College men's water polo team took to the road one last time before their season-ending conference tournament slated for Nov. 3-4.
    Â
The Scots traveled to McKendree University for a Saturday night date with Washington and Jefferson and a Sunday morning matchup with the hosts. It was the second time around this season for both games and the Scots turned in an improved performance.
    Â
Monmouth matched Washington and Jefferson goal-for-goal in Saturday's contest, tying at every stopping point until the fourth quarter. Knotted at 8-all entering the final frame after
Tommy Schneider scored two of his team-high four goals in the third quarter, the Presidents erupted for four goals to hang a 12-9 loss on the Scots who had lost the W&J two weeks ago by a six-goal margin.
Quentin Bartram added three goals and
Alejandro Altamirano scored two as goalkeeper
Kyle Jones posted an 11-save effort.
    Â
Jones turned in 17 saves to tie the program record in Sunday's loss to McKendree. The Bearcats jumped out to a 6-0 lead en route to an 18-3 win over the Scots. Monmouth scored single goals in each of the last three quarters as Schneider finished the weekend with a team-high five goals, one more than Bartram.
    Â
Monmouth wraps up the season Nov. 3 at the CWPA Championships in Erie, Pa.
