Monmouth rallied in the second half, but could not overcome a halftime deficit in a 2-1 loss to rival Knox Tuesday afternoon in Galesburg.
 
The Scots trailed 2-0 at the half after the Prairie Fire scored twice in the first 11 minutes. Monmouth closed the gap in the 64^th minute when Jacie Reis took a feed from Ezzie Baltierra-Chavez for the Scots' lone score.
 
The loss eliminated Monmouth from contention for one of four berths in next week's Midwest Conference Championships.
 
Monmouth will wrap up their season at home Saturday with a 1:30 p.m. match against Ripon.
