SCOTS BREAK MINI SLUMP WITH TWINBILL SPLIT

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Monmouth rebounded with a solid performance in the second game of Thursday's twinbill with Lebanon Valley College in Clermont, Fla. After dropping the opener 8-0, the Scots broke through with a 3-2 win in the nightcap.

The Dutchmen took advantage of a pair of four-run innings in Game 1 while holding the Scots to just three hits. LVC got on the board in the third, scoring three unearned runs with two outs to take a 4-0 lead. They iced the game with four more in the fifth.

The Scots scoring drought lasted into the fifth inning of the nightcap before they pieced together four straight hits to come back from a 1-0 deficit. After Kaila Dunfee drew a one out walk, Kirsti Barton began the hit parade. Freshman pitcher Zelinda Taylor scattered eight hits to earn the win.

Monmouth's Florida trip wraps up Friday with an 8 a.m. game against Misericordia University.
