TABLES TURNED ON SCOTS IN MIDWEEK GAMES

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Scots found the midweek runs hard to come by in a pair of Wednesday losses in Clermont, Fla.

Four late runs in the opener sent the College of St. Benedict past Monmouth 8-2. CSB touched starter Zelinda Taylor for a pair of two-out homeruns to hand the freshman her first loss of the season. Following a three-run shot in the top of the first, Monmouth countered with two in their half of the inning when Kaylee Kurtz ripped a two-run double to cut the margin to 3-2. The game remained a one-run affair until CSB scored four unearned runs in the fifth to pull away.

Monmouth was held to just three hits in a 9-0 blanking by Alfred University. The Saxons took advantage of a pair of Monmouth errors in the second to score the only runs they would need. After tacking on two more scores in the fifth, Alfred ended the game early with a four-run sixth.

A doubleheader is on tap for the Scots Thursday when they meet Lebanon Valley.
