Box Score Monmouth jumped on Nebraska Wesleyan pitching for three first inning runs and added three more in the sixth for a 7-3 win in their season-opener in Clermont, Fla.

Kaylee Kurtz supplied a two-out run-scoring double to open the gates in the gates in the top of the first and Laura Dulee followed with an RBI double as the Scots took a lead they would never surrender. Liz Hippen fanned nine in picking up the Game 1 win.

Leading 3-2 in the sixth, the Scots took advantage of a pair of NWU errors to plate three runs as the squad banged out 13 hits in the game.

Freshman Rebecca Gallis led the slugging with a 3-for-4 afternoon.

Monmouth will play two Monday in Clermont, facing Roanoke and Elizabethtown.
