STELLAR SEASON ENDS ONE WIN SHY OF NCAA BERTH

Box Score Monmouth's hopes for their first NCAA Tournament berth fell just a bit short in a 3-1 loss to Knox in the Midwest Conference Championship game Saturday night in De Pere, Wis.

Trailing 1-0 on a Prairie Fire goal in the 30th minute, the Scots' chances for a comeback were dampened when their rivals scored a pair of quick goals in a three minute span of the second half.

The Scots cut the margin to 3-1 just three minutes after the Fires's third goal when Kara-Jade Gordon fed Jacie Reis for her eighth goal of the season in the 58th minute, but that would be as close as Monmouth would come to a history making win. The team's 11 wins this season came within one of the all-time wins record set by the 2013 squad which also finished second in the MWC Tournament.
