Box Score The shots were even but Monmouth came up on the short end of a defensive battle with Westminster Sunday afternoon.
 
Both teams had early chances, but the Blue Jays took advantage when a shot off the crossbar was redirected for a 1-0 lead in the 36^th minute. The Scots held the Blue Jays in check for the remainder of the half and then ramped up the offense in the second 45 minutes.
 
Monmouth fired off four quick shots in the first five minutes of the second half, but none found the net. Westminster added an insurance goal in the 73^rd minute despite being outshot in the second half.
 
The Scots travel to Iowa Wesleyan for a 5 p.m. match on Wednesday.
