Box Score Monmouth put 80 percent of their shots on goal, but dropped a 3-1 decision on the road Wednesday night at the University of Dubuque.
 
Both teams put plenty of shots on goal, but a three minute span in the first half proved to be the difference. The Spartans scored off a corner kick in the 23^rd minute and added another on a rebound in the 26^th minute for all the scoring they would need.
 
The Scots quickly answered when Darice Brooks scored an unassisted goal in the 30^th minute. Both team defenses then clamped down until Dubuque added the clincher in the 69^th minute.
 
Monmouth opens Midwest Conference play this weekend with a road trip to Ripon and St. Norbert.
