Box Score Monmouth scored first, but couldn't quite hold on in a 2-1 overtime loss at Illiniois College to open Midwest Conference play.

Kara-Jade Gordon scored an unassisted goal in the 29th minute to give the Scots a lead they would hold for nearly 50 minutes. With Nicole Neagle turning aside five first half shots, the Scots were less than 13 minutes away from a road win in Jacksonville, but IC slipped one into the back of the net in the 77th minute.

Knotted at 1-1 heading into overtime, the Lady Blue drew a foul in the box on the Scots and nailed the penalty kick for the win despite Monmouth hammering the IC 'keeper with eight shots on goal.

The Scots return home to face Millikin on Wednesday.
