Box Score Newcomer Kara-Jade Gordon scored the first goal of the game and Darice Brooks added a pair of insurance tallies as Monmouth opened their season with a 3-0 blanking of Blackburn Thursday at Peacock Memorial Athletic Park.
 
Gordon took a feed from Elizabeth Choban and blasted the shot in goal for her first collegiate goal just 16 minutes into the game. It was the only score the Scots would need to give first-year coach Nick Rizzo his first career win. Brooks added an insureance goal off a penalty kick in the 53^rd minute before launching a scoring blast on a breakaway in the 87^th minute to ice the game.
 
The Scots outshot the Beavers 23-3 and fired 11 shots on goal.
