OH, NO-NO! HIPPEN'S SECOND NO-HITTER MOVES SCOTS TO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Box Score Monmouth advanced to the title game of the Midwest Conference Tournament for the first time since 2003 as Liz Hippen twirled her second no-hitter this season in an 8-0, five inning win over top-seeded Lake Forest.

The Scots – seeded second – jumped on the Foresters for three first inning runs and added another in the second for a quick 4-0 lead. Monmouth banged out five of their eight hits in the fourth, to put four more runs on the board as Emily Siefken delivered a key, two-out, two-run double. The Scots then retired the side in order in the fifth as  Hippen faced just one over the minimum to become Monmouth's all-time no-hit leader and propel Monmouth into the title game with a 2-0 record.

In the day's first game, Hippen drove in the only runs the only runs she needed in a 2-1 win over Carroll. Her two-out, two-run double in the third inning proved to be the difference as the sophomore worked out of a first inning jam before retiring the next nine batters. The Scots got on the board when Elena Sakellaropoulos reached on a fielder's choice and Kirstyn Ozga delivered a two-out hit to set the stage for Hippen's RBIs.
