Box Score 2 A day after clinching a Midwest Conference Tournament berth, Monmouth College wrapped up second place in the league standings with a split at Carroll. The Fighting Scots took Game 1, 11-0, but fell in the get-away game 12-2.

Liz Hippen tossed a one-hitter and set the school record for wins in a season with her 13
th win, striking out seven, walking no one and facing two over the minimum in the five inning affair. Hippen got early run support when
Michaela Guthrie launched a two-run homer in the first inning. The Scots piled on three more runs in the second, two coming from a Hippen double to stake Monmouth to a 5-0 lead. Monmouth pushed six runs across in the fifth to notch their school-record 16
th league win.

Carroll stayed alive in the race for a league berth by scoring in every inning of the nightcap. The Pioneers roughed up starter
Kaylee Kurtz for three first inning runs which proved to be enough to earn the split.

The top four teams in the league will converge on Lake Forest for the MWC Championships Friday and Saturday.
