Box Score 2 Monmouth banged out 30 hits in a Saturday afternoon twinbill with Lawrence at Monmouth as the Scots dropped the opener 7-3, but bounced back with a 12-6 win in the nightcap.

The Vikings broke out early in Game 1, scoring three times in the third inning and adding two more in the fourth. The Scots came back with a pair of runs in the fourth on RBIs by
Liz Hippen and
Kirstyn Ozga.

Leading 5-2 in the sixth, the Vikings tacked on two more prior to
Charlotte Park's leadoff homer in the bottom of the frame. Lawrence worked out of a two-on jam in the seventh to pick up the first game win.

The Scots erupted for six runs in the fourth inning of Game 2 en route to pounding out 19 hits in the contest. Winning pitcher
Kaylee Kurtz helped herself, blasting a three-run homer off the scoreboard as the Scots put their first three batters on base and collected five straight hits later in the inning to take a 7-1 lead.

Lawrence rallied with runs in the fifth and sixth to cut the deficit to 9-6, but the Scots added insurance runs in the sixth when
Morgan Throop's triple plated
Carolyn Scherpe and
Maggie Hayes. Hippen came on in relief in the seventh to earn her third save of the season as Kurtz picked up her third win.

Ozga led the Scots' offense going 5-for-9 while Kurtz ended the day with a 4-for-8 performance.
