Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Monmouth rebounded with a 4-1 win over Grinnell to earn a split with the Pioneers after dropping the opener 1-0.
 
Liz Hippen allowed just two hits in the opener, but the Pioneers drew a bases loaded walk in the fifth for the game's only run. Kirstyn Ozga picked up two of Monmouth's four hits in the game.
 
Monmouth's offense began to click in Game 2, scoring all their runs in the middle three innings. The Scots broke through in the third when Emily Siefken's base hit drove in pinch runner Maggie Hayes from third for a 1-0 lead. Monmouth followed with two more scores in the fourth, the first when another pinch runner – Carolyn Scherpe – raced home on a double steal. Hippen then picked up her second hit of the game to plate Elena Sakellaropoulos from third giving the Scots a 3-0 lead.
 
Charlotte Park added her second double of the game in the fifth to score Michaela Guthrie with Monmouth's final run.
 
Grinnell got one run back in the bottom of the frame and threatened in the sixth, putting their first two runners on. Hippen then came in relief of starter Brianna Perschall to retired the next six batters, earning her program record fifth save of the season.
 
Monmouth travels to Knox Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. twinbill.
