Box Score 2 Monmouth split Monday's games in Clermont, Fla., falling 4-2 to Fontbonne in the opener and edging Simmons 4-3 in eight innings in the nightcap.

The Scots spotted Fontbonne a run in the top of the third, but plated two of their own in the bottom of the inning.

Skyler Johnson a lead. Johnson cruised into the seventh before Fontbonne touched her for back-to-back hits. The Griffins then drove three runs across in the frame and posted the win holding the Scots scoreless in the bottom of the inning.

Liz Hippen went the distance in her college debut as Monmouth outlasted Simmons 4-3 in eight innings in the Scots second game of the day. Tied at 1-1 entering the eighth, Simmons scored twice on an error and a sac fly. Monmouth gave Hippen her first career win with three runs in the frame. Ozga's base hit plated pinch runner
Alyssa Edler to make it 3-2 before
Johnna Schultz blasted a double to dead center to score
Morgan Throop and Ozga. Hippen fanned 14, with one walk while scattering five hits.
