Box Score Alyssa Edler and Kaylee Kurtz combined on a 4-hit shutout as Monmouth opened their season with a 12-0 win over Fitchburg State in Clermont, Fla.
 
Edler scattered four hits over her four innings, walking two and striking out two on her first opening day start. The Scots banged out nine hits in support of Edler's effort, plating three runs in the second inning and erupting for nine tallies in the third.
 
Maggie Hayes drove in Kirsti Barton with the first Monmouth score in the second inning and then crossed the plate on a error. Kirstyn Ozga triple in Morgan Throop who had walked to give Edler more than enough run support.
 
The Scots then parlayed seven hits in the third inning into nine runs led by Johnna Schutlz who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
