Box Score Monmouth erupted for seven runs in the second inning to break a two-game slide with an 8-3 win over Fontbonne in Clermont, Fla.
 
Charlotte Park reached on a error to open the inning and Emily Watkins supplied the big blow, a three-run double to ignite the Scots' offense. After Morgan Throop's base hit drove in the first run, Taylor Smith blasted a double off the centerfield fence to plate Michaela Guthrie. Park knocked in a pair of runs with a single as the Scots batted around.
 
Fontbonne, which took a 1-0 lead in the first, came back with a solo run in the third to cut Monmouth's lead to 7-2. The Griffins added another run in the fourth, but the Scots then slammed the door.
 
Maggie Hayes added an insurance run when her two-out double in the fifth scored Guthrie from first.
 
Watkins went 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs while added a pair of RBIs. Freshman Liz Hippen improved to 2-0 striking out 9 while scattering 11 hits and walking 5.
